Lisa Scott-Lee Wants Solo Spot On Steps Tour

Steps Lisa Scott-Lee has revealed that she would like to sing her solo material on the upcoming Steps tour.

The singer said that she is keen to perform her debut solo single 'Lately', which peaked at number six on
the chart in 2003.

Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: "I think we've had great experiences over the last few years. On our previous tours we used to do solo spots, and I'd love to do 'Lately' again.

"It's a song that I wrote myself and was really proud of. I had a big hit with it, so I could definitely see myself doing that again."

Lee Latchford-Evans added: "I'm not sure any of my solo stuff would be right for the Steps tour. My world [after Steps] was very different; Lisa stayed with the dance, and I was performing at rock festivals to people who were thinking, 'What the hell are you doing here?'.

"We're never going to get the success individually that Steps had, but I'm pleased we had the strength to get out there and have a stab at it."

Scott-Lee scored four Top 40 hits before bowing out of a solo career after her last single 'Electric' failed to reach the Top 10.

Heat Interview Claire

Exclusive: heatworld interviews Claire from Steps

Steps reunited! Does this all feel very surreal, or quite natural?

It does feel quite natural actually. It doesn’t so much feel like we have picked up where we left off but it doesn’t feel like it has been 10 years either. I think if I let myself think about it too much then it will start to feel surreal.

The album is doing very well in the mid-weeks (No.2.) Are you surprised by this, considering the content of the album?

Yes. The response to the show has been over-whelming. I just don’t think we could have ever imagined the response to be so good and that there are still people out there who want to hear us so it’s great, especially as it’s another greatest hits of the same material.

Many bands have reformed and failed, and yet Steps have instantly launched with a nationwide arena tour. What is different about Steps?

I think with Steps the difference is that we went away for 10 years and no one saw us together at all in that time. These other bands like Blue never really went away, and came back with new material that changed the memory of the band’s image. With Steps there is no new material really, it’s just a celebration of what we achieved 10 years ago.

Do you think you have to go away completely to come back again?

Maybe. I think also its 10 years. It’s a long time.

It seems to be the magic number.

Yes.
